    Sarah Standish M.S.W.

Sarah’s passion and commitment to working with those with mental health and substance abuse challenges began over 25 years ago.  Earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wittenberg University in Ohio, USA, she went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1997.  Her first professional counselling role was at Centre Academy in South London in 1998, which gave solid experience working with young people with learning difficulties.  Her career has crossed continents and includes mental health and substance abuse counselling in an agency in New Jersey, USA in the early 2000s and a thriving private practice in Sandy Hook, Connecticut USA in the 2010s.  In 2012, Sarah moved with her family back to the UK and was honored to work as the Family Counsellor at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.  Her 5 years of service there was recognised by the Spinal Injuries Association as she won the Rising Star Award.  A move to Nower Hill High School in 2018 for six years, brought Sarah back to her passion of working with young people in an educational setting.  Sarah is now working privately in Amersham and continues to enjoy a diverse mix of clients.  She brings a high level of professionalism and experience to her work, coupled with a compassionate and hopeful approach.

    Rob Carter

    Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

We all experience times in our lives when having someone to talk to can help us.

If you're experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, issues with self-esteem, relationship difficulties, addiction, grief arising from bereavement or other loss or you simply feel that you've lost your way and the joy has gone out of your life, I believe I can help you.

I will create a calm and safe space for you to share what's troubling you and, together, we will find ways for you to move beyond your challenges and become the person you know yourself to be.

I'm an integrative therapist, which means I call upon a range of therapeutic approaches to most benefit my clients. We can examine what's happening for you here and now and develop strategies to help you cope with difficult thoughts and feelings. We can also explore where these thoughts and feelings may have come from and bring fresh insight into your life.

If you would like to explore how we could work together, please contact me for a free, no-obligation, introductory telephone chat.
